According to COPE radio show "El Partidazo de COPE," commentator Tomás Guasch questioned Real Madrid's midfield planning this summer, believing the team lacks reliable defensive midfielders.

On COPE's "El Partidazo de COPE" show, Tomás Guasch raised serious questions about Real Madrid's midfield arrangements for the new season and their interest in Rodri. Hosted by José Luis Corrochano, Guasch focused on the weaknesses in Real Madrid's midfield. He lamented the scarcity of midfield talent in modern football, stating that "there are fewer good players than before" and "there are no longer those defensive midfielders."
To illustrate how difficult it is to find top players, Guasch mentioned Enzo Fernández as an isolated case, but noted he is not a suitable comparison to Rodri. He then directly questioned Real Madrid's confidence heading into the new season, asking, "Do you think Real Madrid would dare to start the season like this? Just tough it out, without Rodri?" His judgment was clear: "I don't think Real Madrid has the nerve for it." In his analysis, Guasch dismissed several alternatives. One was a 30-year-old Rodri recovering from injury, and another was relying on an 18-year-old prospect—Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi, a Moroccan talent who had recently been linked with Real Madrid.
Guasch believes that such a squad would place Real Madrid in an extremely difficult position domestically. Therefore, he suggested that Real Madrid adjust their priorities and prioritize the Champions League, implying that without significant reinforcements in the summer transfer window, the domestic league should be considered secondary. He also emphasized that the Champions League should be viewed as Real Madrid's minimum objective—the ultimate goal the team must achieve.
