According to the Dutch media outlet Voetbal International, Ajax had inquired about Bergwijn from Al-Ittihad and considered bringing him back to the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Voetbal International reported that Bergwijn could leave Al-Ittihad for much less than his purchase price, which was 21 million euros.
Ajax is interested in the left winger, and Bergwijn could replace Mika Godts if the latter is sold.
However, it is highly unlikely that Bergwijn will return to Amsterdam. Dutch journalist Mounir Boualin revealed that Al-Ittihad has changed its stance, and the forward may eventually renew his contract and remain in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ittihad is currently negotiating a new contract with him until mid-2028, with a possible extension to 2029. Bergwijn's future appears to remain in Saudi Arabia, but he still needs to agree to this offer first.
