According to The Athletic, Aston Villa has contacted Bayer Leverkusen to inquire about the possibility of signing striker Victor Kofane.

The report indicates that Villa has long been interested in the 20-year-old Kofane and tracked him even before he joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2024.
After Villa initiated direct contact between the clubs, Bayer Leverkusen made clear they have no intention of selling Kofane and have no plans for him to leave.
The Athletic notes that Villa's interest in Kofane is linked to the future of Ollie Watkins, who has made clear his desire to join Al-Hilal.
Last week, Villa rejected Al-Hilal's fourth offer for the 30-year-old striker, valued at £45 million, with the club reluctant to sell him. However, Villa is accelerating its contingency plans, and Kofane is considered one of the candidates to replace Watkins.
The Athletic previously revealed on Tuesday that Crystal Palace rejected Villa's offer for Mateta. Other options include Rafael Leão of AC Milan and Nicolas Jackson, one of Villa manager Emery's primary targets.
