According to The Athletic, Chelsea has reached an agreement for an annual front-of-shirt sponsorship with the fintech platform Circle.

The club had been in negotiations with the U.S. company for several months. The deal value has not been officially disclosed, but sources told The Athletic it aligns with market rates for top Premier League clubs. Chelsea had originally hoped to secure approximately £50-60 million (€67.9-81.5 million) annually.
According to club sources, this initial contract covers only the remainder of the current season, but the agreement includes an option to extend the partnership.
Starting from matches this weekend, USDC will appear on the front of shirts for the men's, women's, and academy teams across all competitions. Chelsea's men's Premier League match against Brighton will mark USDC's debut.
According to USDC's official website, USDC is a stablecoin issued by Circle, fully backed by cash and cash equivalents and redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars. It facilitates fast, low-cost global transactions via blockchain technology. "USDC" stands for "USD Coin."
This sponsorship will further strengthen Chelsea's financial position, particularly as the club's global partnerships have grown in recent years.
Chelsea President and Chief Operating Officer Jason Gannon spearheaded this partnership. In a club statement Friday, he said: "This partnership with Circle positions Chelsea at the forefront of digital innovation in football.
"Both our organizations are forward-thinking and continually innovating for long-term growth, and we believe this partnership puts us in the strongest possible position. We look forward to launching our collaboration with Circle, introducing Circle to the Chelsea family, and continuing to enhance our operational methods."
This Partnership Comes Late, With Questions Remaining About the Short-Term Deal
This partnership has been long anticipated, and you could say it's "better late than never."
Chelsea has been searching for a front-of-shirt sponsor since its partnership with British telecommunications operator Three ended in 2023.
Chelsea secured a partnership with Infinite Athlete for the 2023-24 season, though that deal was only finalized after the season had already begun.
Chelsea signed short-term deals with Damac Properties and industrial AI company IFS toward the end of the season, covering the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. However, the Circle agreement is expected to be Chelsea's first long-term front-of-shirt sponsorship since Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Consortium took over the club in May 2022.
The Athletic reported that Circle had emerged as the leading candidate in May, but Chelsea held further discussions with other companies before reaching this agreement. Chelsea has consistently emphasized that choosing a partner is about more than just price—it's about fit.
The delay in securing a front-of-shirt sponsor has been a contentious issue among supporters. Fans may still wonder why the club struggled to finalize a long-term partnership for years, only to initially sign a deal covering just the remainder of the season.
