Martin Baturina got a goal and an assist to help Como to their first win of the Serie A season as they beat Napoli 2-1.

Rasmus Hojlund had cancelled out Baturina's opener, but the Croatian then teed up Tasos Douvikas for what proved to be the winner before half-time.

Napoli had a few early chances without testing Jean Butez, and they were made to pay for their wastefulness 17 minutes in as Baturina controlled Assane Diao's cross and turned to slot his low shot into the net.

Noa Lang attempted to find a quick equaliser for Napoli, but despite having a free header at the far post, he planted his effort just over the crossbar.

The hosts did get level on the half-hour mark, though, after Hojlund danced away from challenges on the edge of the box before sending his pinpoint strike past Butez.

However, Como were back in front just four minutes later. Napoli got caught playing out from the back with Baturina's pressure causing Amir Rrahmani's pass in the box to loop to Douvikas, who was left with a simple finish.

Baturina then saw a header tipped over the bar by Alex Meret on the stroke of half-time, but both teams struggled to find their rhythm in the final third after the break.

Napoli, who sparked into life following Kevin De Bruyne's second-half introduction, saw Alisson Santos curl a good attempt just over the crossbar.

And the hosts thought they had found a leveller at the death, only to be denied by the offside flag.

Lorenzo Lucca held up the ball brilliantly and managed to squeeze it through to Stanislav Lobotka, who placed his shot into the bottom-right corner, but the Italian had been offside in the build-up.

Napoli's defensive frailties on show as Como end their duck

Napoli had won 12 of the previous 13 encounters between these sides in Serie A, with the other match in that run ending in a 0-0 draw last year.

But Como ended their torrid run at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, bolstering their excellent away record in the process, as they have now lost just one of their last 13 league games on the road (W9 D3).

Baturina was key to their triumph on Sunday, with his goal getting the ball rolling. He got two of his four shots on target, with only Nico Paz (five) having more attempts for the visitors.

He also created two chances, despite just having 45 touches, as his pressing caused Napoli some real problems, especially for the second goal.

Massimiliano Allegri could not continue his winning start with a victory at home, with this result ending a run of 10 straight victories in opening home games of a Serie A campaign for Napoli.
