You rarely see players being frugal when it comes to buying cars. The world's top football stars often drive Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Mercedes-Benz... or whatever luxury car is their favorite that week, into training grounds.

João Neves is an example. This week, he was seen driving a 2021 Peugeot Panther, worth around £7,000, to Paris Saint-Germain training.
The Portuguese star arrived in a van loaded with hundreds of gifts. He donated these gifts to the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation to help disadvantaged and sick children.
Of course, some players opt for more modest vehicles.
From a £9,000 Smart car to a used Mini Cooper, these players are very down-to-earth.
Bruno Fernandes

The PFA Player of the Year winner earns around £300,000 a week at Manchester United, but he's not ostentatious.
Of course, Fernandes has a Porsche Panamera in his garage; who wouldn't want one?
However, as early as 2020, he was photographed driving a Mini Cooper to the Carrington training ground.
It was a lightly modified John Cooper Works version, but it only cost £33,000, still making it a practical daily driver.
Xhaka

During Xhaka's time at Arsenal, the Amazon documentary "All or Nothing" followed him throughout.
There's an interesting scene in the film: in the club's training ground car park, defender Cédric Soares jokes about Xhaka's car, a £9,000 Smart ForTwo.
Soares asks Xhaka, "What is this rubbish car?!"
The Swiss midfielder replies, "Bro, this is the best car ever."
Foden
Foden is clearly a family man, as he opted for a Toyota Vellfire.

This model is not sold in the Japanese car manufacturer's home market, but used ones can be found online for £8,000 to £30,000.
It's a 7-seater, perfect for the Manchester City star, his three children, and partner Rebecca Cooke.
The seats are also very comfortable, designed like footstools, and come with heating.
Mata
Mata, who played for Chelsea and Manchester United, is now playing for Melbourne Victory in Australia.
When considering his future, he can certainly count himself among the good guys in football.

Not only is he known for his charity work, but the 38-year-old has also previously chosen an understated vintage Volkswagen Beetle as his ride.
In 2015, he posted a photo of his car on social media. If it's a well-maintained used car, it wouldn't cost more than £20,000 online.
Bernardo Silva
With his new club, Real Madrid, sponsored by BMW, you might expect Silva to receive a brand-new electric car upon arriving at the Bernabéu.

But for the Portuguese midfielder, that might be a bit too flashy.
Like Xhaka, Silva also favors the affordable Smart ForTwo, priced around £9,000.
Reportedly, his former manager Pep Guardiola appreciated Silva's understated off-field lifestyle, which also speaks to his character.
Gvardiol
The Manchester City star has always been down-to-earth.
Current defender Gvardiol is no exception; he was once photographed driving a £30,000 Volkswagen Golf.

After photos of the car were posted on social media, fans called him the "King of Understatement."
This is certainly a far cry from the luxury supercars and SUVs like Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces, which often cost six figures.
Pulisic
Pulisic also likes simplicity.

In 2021, the American winger was appointed a brand ambassador for Volkswagen in the United States.
Prior to this, he publicly stated that he had loved the brand since childhood and had been seen driving its cars.
Like Gvardiol, his most frequently driven car is also a Volkswagen Golf.
Kante
The midfielder, who played for Leicester City and Chelsea, is one of the best players of his generation.
In recent years, he has earned a fortune through lucrative contracts with Saudi club Al-Ittihad and now Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.

But Kante is not keen on spending money. In fact, he often says in interviews that he never pursues the glitzy things like expensive watches and designer clothes.
Luxury cars are not on his spending list either. When he joined Leicester City in 2015, he famously bought a used Mini Cooper. He drove that car for many years, even after it had been scratched and repaired several times, he continued to drive it.
