According to La Repubblica, Napoli midfielder McTominay will undergo surgery in London tomorrow to address a recent heart condition. Napoli is confident about the outcome of the surgery and has already planned a subsequent recovery program for the Scottish player to return to the squad.

Before the match against Inter Milan, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna provided an update on the expected recovery time: "It will take 28 days before he is eligible to play again because he will be taking anticoagulant medication. The player needs to rest for the first two weeks, then resume non-contact training activities."

Manna urged caution regarding the actual recovery time: "The recovery period is what it is, and of course, the player might fall behind or experience complications, but we'll have to see how things develop." Napoli hopes to use the international break to minimize the number of matches McTominay will miss.

Manna also explained why the club chose this time for the surgery: "We scheduled the surgery now because it coincides with the break, and we hope he can return in October when there are still nine matches to play." Napoli hopes to have McTominay back during the busiest part of the schedule, but the specific timeline will still depend on his recovery in the weeks following the surgery.
