Holland U20 defender Teze banned indefinitely by Dutch FA for spitting

Holland Under 20 defender Jordan Teze has been banned indefinitely from international football by the Dutch FA for spitting at Germany's Salih Ozcan during the sides' 1-1 draw on Friday.

The shocking incident has been compared to Frank Rijkaard's clash with Rudi Voller at the 1990 World Cup.

The 19-year-old right back, who plies his trade at Jong PSV, was caught spitting at the Germany captain at the end of the game.

The Dutch Football Association responded by suspending Teze and released a statement.

It read: 'That's the worst thing you can do to an opponent, we cannot tolerate this action.'

Teze, who has made three appearances for Holland's U20s side, apologised for his actions on his Instagram page.

He wrote: 'Yesterday evening I went wrong in the match against Germany.

'The KNVB has rightly suspended me. I apologise and accept the consequences. This will not happen again.

'I hope to play for Orange again soon so that I can show that I have learned from this stupid mistake.'

While Holland Under 20s manager Bert Konterman said: 'During this quarrel things have happened over and over again that cannot happen. There has been a spit.

'Both we and our team, Jordan himself, think that this does not belong on a football field and certainly does not belong to a player who plays for his country.'

Some German media outlets have drawn comparisons to former Dutch midfielder Frank Rijkaard's spit at West Germany's Rudi Voller after they were sent off during the last-16 encounter.
