Reports indicate that teenagers in Toulouse and Clermont-Ferrand will not be able to go out to watch France's matches during the FIFA World Cup. Both cities will introduce curfews to prevent minors from gathering on match nights, a measure linked to urban violence, especially the unrest after Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League final.

Clermont-Ferrand Mayor Julien Bony (Republican) has decided to ban unaccompanied minors under 16 from an expanded area around the city center between 11 PM and 7 AM throughout the FIFA World Cup (June 11 to July 20). Bony told France Info: "Given what happened the last two weekends, this is primarily a measure to protect minors, as we believe they put themselves at risk when participating in such events."

This measure will also be coupled with a ban on fan zones and a ban on bars setting up screens outdoors. This city in Auvergne is not the only place taking action; Toulouse is expected to do the same. Mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc told Libération: "The decision has been made in principle," but the specific details of the ban and its effective dates are yet to be determined.
