According to French news agency AFP, Moroccan star Hakimi has appealed the decision to bring him to trial on rape allegations.

AFP confirmed with a source close to the case that Hakimi has appealed to France's Supreme Court of Cassation.

On June 19 this year, France's Court of Appeal ruled that PSG's Hakimi must stand trial on allegations of rape against a woman in 2023. Hakimi has consistently denied the allegations.

This decision was announced during the World Cup hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Following the Versailles court ruling, Hakimi posted on social media: "From day one, I have been waiting for this trial."

Hakimi's lawyer declined to comment on Friday regarding news of the appeal to France's Supreme Court.

Hakimi's appeal to the Supreme Court of Cassation aims to overturn the ruling that he "must face trial on rape charges," rather than appealing a conviction, since the trial has not yet officially begun and no guilty or not guilty verdict has been delivered.

In summary, Hakimi's objective is to "avoid trial," hoping for a case review and potentially a dismissal of charges.

In February 2023, a 24-year-old woman filed a report with police in Val-de-Marne, southeast of Paris, alleging that she was raped by Hakimi.

According to police sources at the time, the woman stated she met Hakimi through social media in January 2023 and subsequently took a taxi he called to his residence.

The woman alleged that Hakimi kissed her, touched her without consent, and then raped her.

"All judicial decisions in this case thus far have been favorable to my client. She will fight to the end to seek justice," said Rachel-Flore Pardo, the woman's lawyer.
