According to Manchester Evening News, no club had more players at this FIFA World Cup than Man City. This figure does not include Stones and Bernardo Silva, who left the club last summer.

Of the 17 players, only one saw their team eliminated early: Uzbekistan's Khusanov was the only Man City player whose nation failed to progress beyond the group stage. During the World Cup, Man City also completed its most significant summer transfer to date – England international Elliot Anderson will join from Nottingham Forest for a club-record fee of £116 million.
As the World Cup knockout stages began and the tournament heated up, we evaluated the performances of Man City's representatives.
O'Reilly
Starting with Man City's England player, O'Reilly started in the opening group match against Croatia, but his performance fell short of last season's Premier League Young Player of the Year standard. He was dropped for the Ghana match but made an impact off the bench, hitting the crossbar late in the game. He returned to the starting XI against Panama and showed more of his potential. 6/10
Guehi
Surprisingly, England did not start Guehi in the opener against Croatia, choosing Stones and Konsa instead. Guehi returned against Ghana with little defensive work but provided consistent distribution to aid the team's buildup play. His header late in the match nearly resulted in a goal. He started against Panama and clearly secured a place in the knockout stages. 6/10
Trafford
Trafford's World Cup unfolded as expected: as England's third-choice goalkeeper, he would have little opportunity to play unless a major incident occurred. He was a valuable squad member and gained valuable experience from the tournament. 5/10
Rúben Dias
The Portuguese defender was linked with a summer move, with Real Madrid reportedly interested. After recovering from injury at the end of last season, he saw limited action for Man City; in Portugal's opening draw with DR Congo, he was omitted. He subsequently appeared in victories over Uzbekistan and the draw with Colombia, helping Portugal keep clean sheets. 5/10
Khusanov
Uzbekistan made history by qualifying for the World Cup finals for the first time, and Khusanov was a key figure. Against Colombia, his late challenge felled Luis Díaz and a cameraman simultaneously—a moment that quickly went viral on social media. He struggled in the 5-0 defeat to Portugal. In the final group match against DR Congo, he played the full 90 minutes, but despite his team leading, they ultimately lost 3-1. 5/10
Nunes
Nunes performed well for Man City last season, firmly establishing himself as the starting right-back. However, Portugal coach Roberto Martínez favored former Man City player Cancelo, and Nunes came on for just two minutes of added time against Colombia. 5/10
Rayan Aït-Nouri
A key player for Algeria, he helped the team reach the Round of 32. He had a difficult time in the opening match against Messi's Argentina but showed excellent ball control and composure in the crucial victory over Jordan, contributing to the team's win. He was dropped for the final group match against Austria but came off the bench to help secure a point and progression. 6/10
Gvardiol
His form was not at its best, which is understandable—he spent much of 2024 recovering from a tibia injury. He was shaky against England and substituted in the first half of Croatia's victory over Panama; he came on for only the final two minutes against Ghana, raising questions about his fitness. 4/10
Aké
The experienced defender came on late in the Netherlands' 2-2 draw with Japan in their opener and did not feature in the convincing victory over Sweden. He started in the final group match and showed solid form at left-back, helping the Netherlands comfortably beat Tunisia. 7/10
Rodri
He is Spain's midfield conductor, performing excellently in the surprising draw with Cape Verde, and while he did not completely dominate the match, he played exceptionally well. He maintained his form in the emphatic victory over Saudi Arabia. He played the full 90 minutes in Spain's dramatic win over Uruguay, securing top spot in the group. 7/10
Reijnders
As a key midfielder for the Netherlands, he contributed to the team's excellent group-stage performance under Ronald Koeman. He did not draw much attention but consistently played an effective role. 7/10
Kovacic
The experienced midfielder came off the bench against England and made a significant impact. He then started against Panama, though Croatia struggled in their 1-0 victory. He started in the crucial Ghana match, helping Croatia progress as group runners-up. 7/10
Cherki
He struggled to break into France's star-studded starting XI, and his brief substitute appearance against Senegal in the opener lacked impact. He showed marked improvement in 25 minutes off the bench against Iraq; he received similar playing time in the dominant victory over a heavily rotated Norway side. 6/10
Doku
After the opening match, he temporarily left the World Cup to be present for the birth of his first child, a decision that generated considerable controversy. The winger showed moments of brilliance in Belgium's opening draw with Egypt and, after returning, featured in the 5-1 victory over New Zealand. 6/10
Marmoush
He helped Egypt reach the knockout stages, though he had yet to register a goal or assist. He was dropped for the final group match against Iran but came on in the first half. His performances were consistently energetic. 7/10
Semenyo
He had a muted performance in the opening match but subsequently provided the decisive assist in Ghana's victory over Panama. Against England, he ran tirelessly and was effective; he played the full 90 minutes against Croatia, helping Ghana progress successfully. 7/10
Haaland
He is the undisputed focal point of Norway's attack. In the comfortable victory over Iran, he scored his first two World Cup goals; he then added two more in the crucial victory over Senegal, leading Norway into the knockout stages. He had every chance to win the Golden Boot. He was rested in Norway's heavy defeat to France in their final group match. 9/10
Anderson
True enough, he is not yet a Man City player, but will be soon. Man City completed the £116 million transfer, and he will join at the Etihad Stadium. He has performed brilliantly at this World Cup: he played excellently in the opening victory over Croatia; against Ghana, although England could not break down their opponents' defense, his performance remained effective. He overcame injury to start against Panama, continuing to demonstrate his quality. 8/10
