According to The Telegraph, Slot will not be the next coach of the Dutch national team. When asked about this possibility after Koeman's departure, the former Liverpool manager explicitly ruled out this option: "I want to continue coaching in European club football."

As Nigel de Jong's favored candidate for the Dutch national team coach, Slot has now forced the Dutch Football Association to look for other targets. His statement also seems to rule out a move to Al-Ahli, as the coach prefers to continue coaching in European clubs.
