Manchester City left-back Ait-Nouri spoke in an interview about his disappointment in his first season with the Blues and his expectations for the new season.

The Algerian joined from Wolves last summer, making only 17 Premier League appearances for the Blues last season. A long-term injury suffered last August meant he struggled to dislodge Nico O'Reilly from the starting left-back spot.

"I'm not too happy because I know I can contribute more," Ait-Nouri said.

"It was a difficult year. I got injured at the beginning of the season, and after I recovered and returned, I tried my best for the team and for this shirt."

"The most important thing is the team. We won two trophies last season, which was a great experience, and we trained under this coach. This means a lot to me and to the team, and I am very happy to be part of this team."

Speaking in Hong Kong, Ait-Nouri also spoke about his delight at returning to Manchester City's training camp and preparing for the new season under new coach Maresca.

"The training has been great, I'm really enjoying training under this coach, and let's see what happens next. I'm very happy to be back here," he said.

"I am full of confidence and I want to show everyone what I can do on the pitch. I have proven it before, and I hope to do it again this season. I am incredibly excited for the start of the new season and to be back here. I am truly happy."
