According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has submitted a second offer of approximately 60 million euros to accelerate the signing of Rodri from Manchester City.

Barcelona is keen to avoid prolonging Rodri's transfer process. The club's sporting department hopes to finalize the Manchester City midfielder's arrival as quickly as possible. All parties agree that with the clubs and player aligned, further delays are pointless and benefit no one.

However, significant obstacles remain. Manchester City is willing to negotiate on their asking price. Recent reports from England suggest that if Barcelona increases its offer to approximately 70 million euros, Manchester City will allow the player to leave—a substantial reduction from their initial 80 million euro demand.

Barcelona and Manchester City are in continuous dialogue, with both sides gradually adjusting their offers in search of a mutually acceptable solution. Barcelona's first official proposal was 45 million euros in fixed fees plus 10 million euros in performance-related add-ons, considerably below Manchester City's initial 80 million euro valuation.

This gap was expected. Barcelona anticipated the first offer would be rejected but signaled their intention to submit a revised proposal immediately, hoping to narrow the divide and avoid a protracted negotiation similar to the Álvarez transfer saga—though the circumstances differ significantly.

Both Manchester City and Barcelona have confirmed that negotiations are progressing positively, with all parties motivated to complete the deal. Nevertheless, they acknowledge remaining differences and have cautiously avoided predicting when an agreement will be reached.

In this second round of negotiations, Barcelona has substantially increased its proposal to around 60 million euros, though the breakdown between fixed and variable components remains undetermined.

Barcelona is optimistic that this new financial proposal will enable both clubs to resolve outstanding details, finalize the total fee, and officially present Rodri as a major signing for Frank Flick's 2026-27 team next week.
