The Manchester Evening News reported on Manchester United's personnel situation.

Manchester United were without Amad Diallo and Mount in their Premier League opener, but one of them is expected to return against Ipswich.

Mount is expected to return this weekend when Manchester United face Ipswich, recovering from a minor hamstring injury, but winger Amad Diallo will remain sidelined for longer.

Mount has not appeared since being substituted in the first half of a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg three weeks ago, which Manchester United initially described as a "precautionary measure."

However, Mount subsequently missed the final two pre-season warm-up matches and was also absent from Manchester United's opening Premier League defeat to Hull City last weekend.

The 27-year-old has been dealing with a minor hamstring injury, but he has returned to first-team training this week and should be back in the squad on Sunday. Amad Diallo will remain absent, as he is targeting a return before the first international break of the season, which begins on September 21.

Carrick said: "Amad Diallo won't be playing this week. He'll be out for a while longer. Mount is back with the team, which is great. He's been training this week. For us, that's very positive news."

Other players who only returned to pre-season training following the World Cup are also competing for starting spots, with Lisandro Martinez, Mainoo, and Rashford all pushing for inclusion in the starting lineup.

He said: "We have a squad to choose from. We have a good group and can select different combinations within the team. So we'll pick a team for the weekend. But yes, these lads are certainly very competitive."
