According to Spanish media outlet Metropolitano, Stefan Bajcetic will undergo a medical examination at Celta de Vigo on Monday. After a five-year absence, the midfielder who came through Celta de Vigo's youth academy will return to his former club and sign a three-year contract.

Bajcetic left Celta de Vigo at age 16 to join Liverpool and has since been part of the Reds' system, spending time on loan at RB Salzburg and Las Palmas. Due to a muscle injury that has sidelined him for over 15 months, he will initially join Celta B (Celta Fortuna) upon his return to gradually rebuild his match fitness before attempting to break into the first team.

To make the deal compatible with Celta de Vigo's tight financial situation, Bajcetic accepted a significant wage cut. He waived a substantial salary from his final year at Liverpool and agreed to terms based on Celta de Vigo's youth player wage scale.

According to reports, his new contract mirrors the salary structure of young players such as Xavi Rodríguez, Rueda, Hugo Álvarez, and Joel Lago. He will receive a fixed salary while playing for Celta Fortuna; if promoted to the first team, his salary will increase accordingly. The contract also includes performance-based bonuses tied to first-team appearances.

Bajcetic, who can play as a midfielder or center-back, has signed a three-year deal clearly structured around performance. Reports indicate the player is keen to return to Celta de Vigo and made significant financial concessions to facilitate the move.

Celta de Vigo will not pay a fixed transfer fee to Liverpool, though the agreement includes performance-based add-ons. Liverpool retains a percentage of any future transfer fee should Bajcetic be sold, though no buy-back clause was included.

Bajcetic has been sidelined since May 2025. His previous loan spell at Las Palmas was underwhelming, and he will now attempt to rebuild his fitness and career momentum at the familiar surroundings of Celta de Vigo.
