Michael Owen stated that Eze's performance in Arsenal's victory over Aston Villa was "better" than Trossard's, and therefore he deserves to start in the match against Chelsea.

Owen said while analyzing Arsenal's performance in the Premier League Productions studio: "It will be interesting to see whether Eze can hold onto his starting position ahead of Chelsea this weekend. I think that is possible."

"He certainly did more than Trossard today, so I think he has a chance to start against Chelsea in what promises to be an exciting opening to the season."

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown was also impressed by Eze's 45-minute display, believing the English international offers more than Trossard when coming off the bench.

"There is no doubt about it, Eze's impact is hugely important. You need players who can be thrown into the game at any moment," Keown added.

"Martinelli and Trossard left the left wing, and Trossard came on. Trossard's performance today couldn't match his first game against Coventry, but Eze gives you another option on the left wing."

"I could sense he was a bit frustrated at that point. The manager probably saw that and told him, 'Come on, show me what you can do,' and from an attacking standpoint, I think he certainly made Arsenal better."

"He likes to drift into central areas, and when he gets the opportunity, he's very good at taking advantage of it, so I think he showed his worth when he came on."

Based on Arsenal's first two matches, Owen believes that any title contender attempting to "overtake" Arteta's side will need an extraordinary performance.

"If any team is looking at Arsenal and thinking they have any obvious weaknesses this season, they must have watched the first two games and seen Arsenal comfortably beat Coventry," he said.

"Then they came to Villa Park, a difficult away ground, and held their own. They demonstrated both sides of their game."

"The first match showed some attacking flair, the second was a resolute performance."

"They will not stop, and it will take a very strong team this season to overtake them."
