According to Manchester City official news, Argentine midfielder Echeverri has joined Benfica on loan and will play in the Primeira Liga and Europa League this season.

The Argentine midfielder joined Manchester City in January 2024 but remained at River Plate until January of the following year.

He performed outstandingly in the South American U20 Championship, scoring 6 goals and captaining Argentina to the final before leaving Buenos Aires.

His Manchester City first-team debut came in the 2025 FA Cup final, where he came on as a substitute in the second half and came close to equalizing, but Manchester City ultimately lost to Crystal Palace.

The following week, Echeverri made another substitute appearance in the season-closing match away against Fulham. That summer, he scored a spectacular free-kick against Al Ain in the Club World Cup in Atlanta, then missed the remainder of the season due to injury.

Last season, he first went on loan to German club Leverkusen, and in January, he transferred to Girona. Now, the 20-year-old will spend this season at Benfica.
