Riyadh Victory coach Postecoglou believes his team performed better despite their 2-1 loss to Al Ittihad.

At the post-match press conference, Postecoglou stated that Al Ittihad did not maintain the same attacking intensity after the opening minutes. He emphasized that for most of the match, Riyadh Victory was the dominant team, more proactive in creating chances.

Postecoglou said, "What I saw in this match was that after 15 minutes, there was only one team creating chances on the field, and that was Riyadh Victory. Our players' performance last season and this season proves they have resilience."

Regarding the team's reaction after a slow start, Postecoglou noted that every match presents different circumstances, and concentration can waver at times, but he appreciated the team's response. He said, "Every match is different. The opponent had a lot of energy today, and sometimes focus can drop a little. If you look at each match individually, the reasons are different each time. Look at our team's reaction; they do better every time."

Postecoglou said that in the second half, Al Ittihad posed no real threat to Riyadh Victory's goal, while his team created multiple opportunities that could have earned a draw or even a victory.

He stated, "In the second half, Al Ittihad had no real chances, while we had at least 5 shots on target. If we had equalized, things would have been different. The players did what they were supposed to do, and I can't ask for more from them because they gave everything."

Postecoglou also praised his players' finishing and noted that Al Ittihad goalkeeper Predrag Rajković's outstanding performance was a key reason Riyadh Victory failed to convert these opportunities into goals.

He explained, "The opportunities we created were saved by the Al Ittihad goalkeeper. Our players didn't waste the chances; that's just how football is, and it happens often. On set pieces, we couldn't get the ball where it needed to go."

Postecoglou concluded by saying the loss was frustrating, but Riyadh Victory demonstrated their true capability in the second half and could have scored multiple goals with a bit more fortune. He said, "Losing is frustrating; we didn't start well, especially in the first 15 minutes. In the second half, we showed our true capability. We could have scored a few goals, but luck wasn't on our side."
