Bayern Munich scored five second-half goals – with two coming from Michael Olise – to start their Champions League campaign with a crushing 5-0 win over last season's surprise package Bodo/Glimt.

Match Report

Kjetil Knutsen's visitors beat Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Inter (twice) en route to the round of 16 in 2025-26, and they had hope of another eye-catching result on Thursday after keeping things goalless until half-time.
But Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and Olise all got on the scoresheet after the interval – the latter helping himself to a brace – and Odin Bjortuft received a late red card to compound Bodo's collapse.
Bayern's best chances in the first half fell to Musiala, who had an awkward, downward header repelled by Nikita Haikin, and Joshua Kimmich, who saw one long-range sighter cannon off the post and another blocked by the legs of the Bodo goalkeeper.
But Haikin was withdrawn at half-time, having sustained an injury while making that improvised save, and his replacement Julian Faye Lund endured a long second half.
He was beaten just 78 seconds after kick-off, with Musiala thumping a right-footed finish into the far corner after Kane's shot deflected into his path, then the England captain nodded in from Olise's free-kick to make it 2-0 just beyond the hour mark.
Bayern's third goal, scored by Davies in the 77th minute, was a sight to behold as he smacked a thunderous effort home from the edge of the area, but there was even better to come.
Olise picked out the top-left corner with a trademark curler from 25 yards soon afterwards, then Bodo were reduced to 10 following Bjortuft's trip on Olise.
The France international would have been clean through if not for that foul on the edge of the area, but he still found time for another goal, gliding forwards before clipping a lovely finish into the same corner in stoppage time.

Kane and Olise shine again for five-star Bayern
Only Barcelona in 1999-00 and Paris Saint-Germain last season (both 45) had ever scored more goals in a single edition of the Champions League than Bayern managed in 2025-26, as they plundered 43 before going out in the semi-finals.
It was a huge surprise, then, to see them frustrated throughout the first 45 minutes on Thursday, reaching half-time with 11 shots and 1.0 expected goals (xG) but nothing to show for it on the scoreline.
Their pressure eventually proved too much, though, as Musiala's strike opened the floodgates. Bayern ended the game with 25 shots, 12 of which were on target, and 2.49 xG, compared to Bodo's three attempts and 0.2 xG.
With Bayern plundering five goals – the seventh time they have netted four or more goals in a Champions League match since the start of last season – it seemed inevitable that Kane and Olise would make their mark.
Among all players from Europe's top five leagues, Kane (39 – 34 goals, five assists) and Olise (34 – 17 goals, 17 assists) rank first and second for total goal involvements in 2026.
Both were included on the shortlist for the Ballon d'Or earlier this week, and though that award only considers performances in 2025-26 and at the World Cup, Kane's Champions League scoring streak will do his case no harm. He has now netted in eight straight games in the competition, with Robert Lewandowski the last player to achieve a nine-match run, also with Bayern in 2021.
