Adam Le Fondre celebrated in hilarious style after scoring the opener for Sydney FC in their A-League game against Western Sydney Wanderers.

The former Bolton, Cardiff and Reading striker has been in electric form since moving to Australia and scored his 16th goal of the season after tapping home into an empty net.

He marked the goal by running to the grandstand behind the goal and pretending to applaud the fans and taking a bow - despite no one being in attendance.

As the coronavirus pandemic sweeps the globe, major sporting events have been either been postponed or cancelled.

But while European leagues are currently in shutdown, the A-League in Australia is continuing to go ahead - but with games played behind closed doors.

Le Fondre's celebration provided some light relief in a game which had a very different feel to it without the usual derby atmosphere.

That didn't stop the teams going at it serving up a fascinating clash as Sydney FC looked to get revenge for two 1-0 defeats to their local rivals this season.

Le Fondre's goal was his tenth goal in ten consecutive away games.

However his side could not hold onto their lead after the league leader equalised in the 82nd minute thanks to a goal by Kwame Yeboah.
