The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Commission have imposed a penalty of an eight-month suspension on Hapoel Beer-Sheva player Shir Tzedek after he tested positive in a doping control after their Champions League qualifying match against Slovenian side Maribor on August 22.

UEFA confirmed the decision after reopening the case file on December 7, which indicates Shir Tzedek tested positive for a stimulant on the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of banned substances.

"UEFA takes this opportunity to reiterate its commitment in the fight against doping and confirm its policy of zero tolerance with it," the body directed by Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin said in a statement.

Since no appeal has been filed, UEFA confirmed that the eight-month ban will be imposed.
