Levante Official Announcement
Levante UD have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Carlos Espí. The deal sets a club record for the sale of a homegrown academy player and underscores the exceptional potential of the Valencian forward.
Carlos Espí joined Levante in the summer of 2022 as a second-year U19 player to strengthen the División de Honor U19 A team. Since his arrival, he quickly became a key player for the side, making a decisive contribution to the historic season in which the team won the league title. Thanks to his outstanding hard work, talent, and consistency, he earned his reward on February 18, 2024, making his first-team debut away to Racing de Ferrol.
Over the following season, the forward became one of the key figures in Levante’s return to the top flight, making 36 appearances and scoring six goals in the Segunda División. After promotion to La Liga, the Valencian player fulfilled his enormous potential, cementing his status as one of the league’s brightest young stars. He was not only named Player of the Month for March, but was also voted La Liga’s Best U23 Player at the end of the season. In his first season in the top flight, he played 25 league matches and scored 11 goals, finishing as the team’s top scorer.
Carlos Espí's journey with Levante has now come to an end. He made 66 appearances for the first team, scoring 20 goals. In addition, during his time at Levante, he also fulfilled his dream of wearing the Spain national team shirt, having been called up to Spain's U19 and U20 youth national teams.
His departure represents a highly significant deal for Levante UD. It is not only the highest fee in the club’s history for the sale of a homegrown academy player, but also reflects the player’s own development and the outstanding results the club has achieved in youth development at its Sports City.
Levante Unión Deportiva would like to express its sincerest gratitude to you for every contribution you made, your professionalism, and the passion you poured into defending this badge from day one. We are immensely proud to have accompanied your growth along the way and to have witnessed you take on a new professional challenge. This will always be your home, and the Levante family wishes you the very best of luck and every success in this new chapter of your life. (End of announcement)
