According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Kovacic has not forgotten Internazionale. He returned to his old stomping grounds yesterday with Manchester City for a warm-up in Hong Kong, and interacted with former Inter teammates Dumfries and Sucic in a social media video.

In recent weeks, there were rumors that the Croatian midfielder might return to Internazionale. Reports claimed that his team had recommended him to Inter management, but the latter made it clear that players would first need to leave the squad.

Asllani and Frattesi were both mentioned as possible departures, but no sales have been completed in the midfield position so far. Currently, Inter has not made room for Kovacic, but with less than a month left in the summer transfer window, this situation might change.

The Croatian international played for Internazionale for two seasons between 2013 and 2015. He joined from Dinamo Zagreb for 11 million euros and left for Real Madrid for 38 million euros, bringing a substantial transfer profit to Inter.
