Besiktas president Serdar Adalı spoke for the first time about Salah's free transfer to Trabzonspor, emphasizing that the club had never considered signing the Egyptian star from the outset.

"We never wanted to sign Salah, and this must be clear to everyone. We didn't sign him, but it wasn't because we lost the deal or failed to bring him in. These claims are false."
The Besiktas president stated that coach Önal's previous remarks were misinterpreted, saying: "The coach had already explained the situation very clearly and respectfully at the time, saying 'for now', but his meaning was misunderstood. We could have directly announced our withdrawal from negotiations then, but outsiders made it sound as if we had been involved in this deal and then another club snatched the player away, which is completely untrue and makes me very unhappy."
Adalı emphasized that since he became president, Besiktas has never had a player they wanted intercepted by another club. He said: "Since I took over, no one has snatched a player we wanted to sign from us. Furthermore, we have a good relationship with Trabzonspor, and such a thing could not happen between the two clubs."
He also stated that Besiktas' transfer operations are proceeding as planned, with new signings joining the team next week. He said: "Our transfers are going according to plan, and new players will join starting next week. Ultimately, performance on the pitch is what truly decides everything; transfer sagas only last a few days."
The Besiktas president also discussed the registration of Belgian player Trossard. He stated that there were no issues with the player's eligibility, and the matter was resolved last night, awaiting documents from England. He said: "There are no issues with Trossard's registration; the matter was handled last night, and we are awaiting documents from England. He won't feature in the first match, but we hope he can play in the second."
Adalı also responded to the controversy surrounding his expression when fans chanted Salah's name during Trossard's unveiling. He said: "Many people are talking about my expression, but honestly, I didn't clearly hear what the fans were chanting at that moment."
Adalı finally reiterated that Salah was not in Besiktas' plans. He said: "Many people interpreted my expression as if we lost the deal, but Salah's transfer was never part of our plans. The player's agent did some things we hadn't seen before, and I think everything eventually returned to how it should be. With time, things will become clearer, and everyone will understand why this deal didn't go through."
