According to the Manchester Evening News, 20-year-old Manchester City midfielder Charlie Gray is set to join League One side Wigan Athletic on loan. The young player is expected to complete a season-long loan in the coming days, continuing to gain experience through first-team matches.

Charlie Gray made his Manchester City first-team debut last season, coming on as a substitute in the League Cup match against Brentford last December, helping the team to victory. This summer, he also extended his contract with Manchester City, as the club continues to be optimistic about his long-term development.

It is reported that Gray has recently been seen at Wigan Athletic's home ground watching the team play, and he was not in the Manchester City U21 squad for their EFL Trophy match against Mansfield, further indicating his imminent departure.

The loan deal is expected to be officially completed in the coming days, with Gray playing for Wigan Athletic for the entire season and potentially making his debut in Wigan Athletic's League One match against Leyton Orient this Saturday.

Gray joined the Manchester City academy system at the age of nine, and during his time at the club, he won the FA Youth Cup and the Premier League 2 title with the youth team. He has always been regarded by Manchester City as a promising young midfielder, and this loan move is intended to give him more high-level match experience.
