Manuel Neuer has already taken part in several traditional events organized by Bayern’s sponsor, Paulaner. In an interview, he revealed which new signing looks better in Lederhosen, how special the start of the season is for him, and whether he still gets excited after playing so many matches.

Manuel, you've done several Lederhosen-themed photo shoots. Which new signing looks best in Bavarian Lederhosen?

Yes, I think it's much easier now because the other person still needs to do a few more squats to make the Lederhosen fit better. But I think both of you look good wearing them.

Congratulations on winning your first trophy of the season in Dortmund on Saturday. How do you assess the match against Dortmund? What feelings did this match bring, or what signals did you get from it?

Yes, I just feel that playing against Dortmund is always a challenge, especially away from home. I think that for over a decade, these two teams have been the two best in Germany, and they are often evenly matched. However, the better team ultimately deserved the victory. This match was also like a test for the season, showing us where we currently stand.

Of course, we have to put in effort for every match, but this victory certainly gave us a very good feeling.

Coach Kompany just said in an interview that facing a real challenge like Dortmund at the start of the season, followed by the league opener against Stuttgart, and with the Champions League also about to begin, the international break is much longer than usual. How important and special is this early part of the season, with the matches starting in Munich?

Yes, I think getting off to a good start is very important. Basically, the final has already begun, and it will continue to do so.

Stuttgart is one of our opponents in the DFB-Pokal final. I believe we will also play away against Ambrück in the DFB-Pokal, and that match will not be easy either. Therefore, we will take every match seriously. We will strive to accomplish our tasks, be ready at all times, and aim to win the matches.

On Friday evening, the Allianz Arena will host the first Bundesliga match of the season under the lights. You've been playing for so many years, do you still feel excited about it?

Of course. I believe there’s no better way to start the season. The Bundesliga opener is always special, and the atmosphere at the Allianz Arena will be fantastic. I’m really looking forward to this match against Stuttgart.

One last question. Kompany was voted coach of the season last season. What makes him the best coach?

Yes, I just feel that he has always worked hard to help us improve and continue to grow. I think we have gone through a very good process after the first season and now in the second season. We participated in all competitions and stayed in contention until the very end, with a chance to compete for all titles. I don't think every team in Europe can do that.
