Man City has undergone a major squad overhaul this summer, with Maresca receiving full backing for the challenging task of succeeding Guardiola.

Man City's recruitment efforts began in January, when Guehi and Semenyo joined early and arrived at the Etihad. Both were originally summer targets for Man City, but once the club realised a transfer could be completed six months ahead of schedule, they acted quickly.

With Maresca taking over from Guardiola, observers view this personnel change as a "major overhaul" rather than a rebuild. Compared to the start of Guardiola's final season, Man City's current squad is considered stronger.
