Liverpool signed French forward Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of up to £123 million this summer, making him the club's second most expensive signing in history, after Alexander Isak.

Barcola is a three-time Ligue 1 champion and two-time Champions League winner. Last season, he made 29 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 11 goals. In the 2024-25 season, he has contributed 14 goals and 10 assists.
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Anfield. Manager Arne Slot hopes he can be a key player in restoring attacking football.
Barcola is expected to make his debut against Ipswich on Friday night. Ahead of the match, pundit Rio Ferdinand revealed how Liverpool plans to maximize the young winger's potential.
"One important thing with Barcola is how you use him. Can you get him into one-on-one situations?" Ferdinand said.
"Also, if you want to play on the counter-attack, he's incredibly quick. But would you ask him to take on more defensive duties than attacking? That might not suit him well.
"My final point is that he also needs to improve his finishing," Ferdinand added. "If he can do that, he will cause a lot of teams problems."
Barcola joins Víctor Muñoz and Araújo as Liverpool's new signings this summer, with Loureiro also having joined in January.
Next, attention will turn to his performance against Ipswich and whether Slot will give him his debut just days after his arrival.
