Carles Martinez recorded his first Bundesliga win as Bayer Leverkusen head coach after they defeated Union Berlin 4-0 at BayArena.

Miguel Gutierrez starred from left-back, assisting both Equi Fernandez and Facundo Medina in the first half, while Patrik Schick and Ibrahim Maza sealed a comfortable victory for the hosts after the break.
Leverkusen were ahead after just 41 seconds as Maza's flick was kept in play by Gutierrez, who teed up Fernandez for a simple finish inside the six-yard box as Union were caught cold.
Schick saw a header rattle the crossbar just before the half-hour mark, but Leverkusen would double their lead moments later as they worked the ball back out to Gutierrez, whose pinpoint cross was headed in by Medina.
The Czech striker got on the scoresheet three minutes after the break as he was on hand to convert from Jarell Quansah's low centre, before he turned provider for Leverkusen's fourth.
Maza played a give-and-go with Schick before dancing past two defenders and picking out the bottom-right corner in the 66th minute, allowing Leverkusen to comfortably see out the win while holding on to their clean sheet.

Gutierrez shines at both ends in routine win
Martinez would have certainly hoped for a strong home performance after losing to newly promoted Elversberg in their Bundesliga opener, and the Spaniard got exactly that from his side on Saturday.
Leverkusen accumulated 2.85 expected goals (xG) from their 21 shots while restricting Union to just 0.43 from five attempts, none of which troubled Mark Flekken.
Gutierrez set the tone for a strong performance with his assist inside the first minute, while he also created the joint-second-most chances for his side (three), won the joint-most possessions (five) and recorded the joint-second-most crosses (five) before being replaced late on.
It was also an impressive display from Maza, who completed five of his six dribbles (a match-high) and led the match in interceptions (three) as Leverkusen got their Bundesliga campaign up and running.
