Cardiff City player Krystian Bielik is under investigation by police after being accused of grabbing a young Portsmouth fan by the neck during a match at Fratton Park on Saturday, which Portsmouth won 2-0.

The incident occurred in the 70th minute of the match at Fratton Park on Saturday, with Cardiff City trailing 2-0. The former Arsenal academy player attempted to retrieve the ball from the stands when a Portsmouth supporter kicked it further away. Bielik, 28, became angry and reached up to grab the fan by the neck and push him away, according to video footage of the incident.

The fan then fell and attempted to retaliate. The supporter was ejected from the stadium for his involvement, but Bielik was not punished during the match.

Hampshire Police announced on Sunday afternoon that they had launched an investigation into the assault allegation.

Portsmouth Football Club confirmed it is treating the matter as a child safeguarding issue and working with police on the investigation.

In a statement, Portsmouth said: "Portsmouth Football Club is aware of concerns raised following an incident involving a spectator and visiting player during yesterday's match at Fratton Park."
