According to Sky Sport Germany, Hamburger SV, a long-standing Bundesliga club, has obtained all necessary approvals for the expansion project of its home stadium, Volksparkstadion. The stadium currently has 57,000 seats, and after the renovation, its total capacity will increase to over 60,000 seats.

The expansion project will officially commence in October. The club stated that construction will be carried out during breaks between home matches to minimize disruption to the first team's and women's Bundesliga regular season operations.
The renovation will be implemented in phases, starting with Stand A, which is closest to the field, by adding seats in the entrance and exit areas. Subsequently, new seats will be added in the tiered seating areas of Stands B and C. Finally, the expansion of Stand A toward the field will be completed. Concurrently, additional restroom facilities will be added to the stadium to accommodate the increased spectator demand following the expansion.
The funding for this expansion comes entirely from the HSV-Supporters-Trust, a fund that gathers contributions from numerous fans who purchase shares. The capital is specifically used for acquiring club shares and upgrading the stadium. The club has not disclosed the specific cost of this expansion.
