In the 23rd minute of the Manchester Derby, Foden was shown a red card for kicking Bruno Fernandes.

Webb said: "I agree with the red card for Foden. He kicked Bruno Fernandes forcefully in the upper body. From the replay, it's clear that Bruno Fernandes did make a provocative move, kicking Foden on the hip. This was provocation rather than violent conduct."

"To determine violent conduct, the action must involve excessive force or brutality. From the replay, this action lacked those elements. Therefore, this should have been a yellow card offense."

Webb added that had Foden not been sent off immediately but instead reviewed by VAR, Bruno Fernandes' yellow card offense would have been identified at the pitchside monitor, similar to how Aston Villa's João Gomes was sent off for a comparable foul in a match against Brighton last month.
