The 23.6 million euros of state aid that the European Union claims was used for Valencia's Foundation, will have to be paid back by the club on May 20.

Valencian Institute of Finance (IVF) has already received instructions from the European Commission to proceed with the collection of that amount and also a smaller amount from Hercules.

The sanction comes after the General Court of the European Union dismissed a request from both clubs for precautionary suspension relating to the alleged misappropration of funds between 2008 amd 2010.

Valencia must pay 23.6 million euros and Hercules 7.1m.

Appeals and suspension of the collection process

The IVF has announced through a press release that the process will be paralysed if the European Union Court of Justice allows the resources that the clubs have announced that they will interpose.
