Rivers United are working on a deal to sign highly-rated striker Alpha Jallow, who has been labelled the new Samuel Eto'o by his minders.

Despite the Nigerian transfer window closed for business, the Port Harcourt-based Nigerian Professional Football League side can still sign the striker as he is presently a free agent.

Rivers United manager Stanley Eguma has earmarked Jallow to strengthen his attacking options and is now waiting for feedback from his superiors before the player is offered a contract.

A Gambia international, Jallow's representative was also in talks with Enyimba of Aba over a deal but Rivers United have emerged as favourites for his signature.

The attacker was on trial at Chievo Verona for several months but the Italian Serie A outfit have yet to offer him a deal because he does not have a European Union passport.

Rivers United's next domestic fixture is against Enyimba.
