The Israeli derby between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv was marred by crowd trouble that resulted in 25 minutes of added time being played.

Maccabi and Hapoel faced off in the Tel Aviv derby in the Israeli Premier League in a heated clash that saw a barrage of flares thrown onto the pitch from both ends of the stadium, causing three lengthy first half stoppages of play.

Maccabi defeated Hapoel 3-0 in the end thanks to three second half goals after the first half lasted a staggering 70 minutes.

The game was delayed on three occasions with the first stoppage coming after just 16 seconds, with the game suspended until order was restored.

There was a pause again in the 15th minute when more flares were chucked onto the pitch, causing further chaos.

The game was restarted eight minutes later but it was then disrupted for a third time when supporters remarkably lobbed balls onto the pitch.

After the first two stoppages for flares, Hapoel fans throw the balls on to prevent Maccabi attacks, with their rivals currently flying high at the top of the league.

This meant the referee added 25 minutes to the first half, with the score goalless at the break after a heavily disrupted period.

The penalty boxes were covered in burn marks and there were question marks over whether the game would be able to finish, before a warning was sent out over the tannoy.

Maccabi defender Maor Kandli almost scored one of the latest first-half goals in history when he netted in the 61st minute of the first half, before VAR ruled the goal out.

There were no troubles during the second period as Maccabi scored three times in the final 15 minutes of the game to continue their fine start to the season under former Watford boss Vladan Ivic.
