Following their exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Angola’s football authorities have moved quickly to chart a new and more sustainable course, unveiling a clear long-term plan aimed at restoring the Palancas Negras to continental relevance.

Rather than panic or rush into drastic changes, the Angolan Football Federation has opted for continuity and structure, placing head coach Patrice Beaumelle at the heart of a renewed technical project. In a significant shift, Beaumelle will now be based permanently in Angola, allowing him to closely monitor the domestic leagues, work directly with the U-15 and U-17 national teams, and oversee key grassroots and development initiatives.

The move is designed to bridge the long-standing gap between the senior national team and the country’s youth structures, ensuring that Angola’s next generation of talents are developed with a clear identity and philosophy aligned to the senior setup.

Federation officials believe the recent AFCON disappointment should serve as a turning point rather than a setback. Preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will begin immediately, with a strong emphasis on building a coherent system, nurturing young players, and maintaining technical stability with Patrice Beaumelle tasked with leading the project from the ground up.
