Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a minority shareholder in Manchester United, saw his net worth drop by an estimated £1.8 billion over the past year, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

Ratcliffe experienced the third-largest drop on the list, behind only Sir James Dyson and Anil Agarwal, with his net worth reportedly falling to £15.194 billion, which put Ratcliffe at ninth place on the UK rich list. His estimated wealth for 2025 was £17 billion.

The Sunday Times believes Ratcliffe's wealth has decreased for three consecutive years. Ratcliffe owns the petrochemical giant Ineos, and his wealth was estimated to be as high as £29.6 billion in 2023. Subsequently, his wealth continuously dropped by approximately £6 billion in 2024 and 2025.

The latest Sunday Times Rich List states: "The Ineos Group is Ratcliffe's vast petrochemical empire, with operations in 27 countries. Due to increasing debt, decreasing revenue, and losses of £515.7 million, we have lowered the valuation of the business to £17 billion.

"Ratcliffe holds a 29% stake in Manchester United, valued at £1.4 billion."

Ratcliffe, who controls Manchester United's sporting affairs, has sold a series of Ineos assets in an attempt to "rebalance his portfolio."

The Ineos Group has terminated its sponsorships with the New Zealand rugby team and Tottenham, and has ceased funding Sir Ben Ainslie's America's Cup sailing team.

Reports suggest that Ineos is also preparing to sell the Ligue 1 team Nice.
