According to Mediaset, Italian Football Federation President Gabriele Gravina is considering Zbigniew Boniek for the role of national team technical director.

Gravina sees Boniek as a strong candidate who meets all the requirements, including charisma, a distinguished playing career, extensive management experience, strong connections, and political influence, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Boniek served as UEFA Vice President and President of the Polish Football Association. Other candidates on the shortlist include Gianluigi Buffon, Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Baggio, Gianfranco Zola, Demetrio Albertini, Claudio Ranieri, and Giuseppe Bergomi. Paolo Maldini, previously considered the leading candidate, now appears less likely: the former AC Milan defender has not received a formal offer, and sources suggest he would decline if one were made.
