Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan stated on talkSPORT that he couldn't believe Newcastle United didn't include a sell-on clause for Anderson.

Multiple sources reported that Nottingham Forest midfielder Anderson would sign for Manchester City for £116 million. According to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, when Anderson transferred from Newcastle United to Nottingham Forest in the 2024 summer transfer window, Newcastle United did not include a sell-on clause.
Regarding this, Simon Jordan said: "I can't believe Newcastle United didn't include a sell-on clause; it completely defies common sense. If they truly don't have a sell-on clause, then every aspect of this situation seems completely unreasonable. It's incomprehensible: a young player leaves the club, and you don't really want him to go, yet you show no business acumen. At the very least, you should have included a 10% or 15% sell-on clause."
Anderson transferred from Newcastle United to Nottingham Forest in 2024 for a transfer fee of £35 million. If a sell-on clause had been included, they could have received a substantial income. Even if the sell-on clause only applied to the profit Forest made on Anderson, Newcastle United would have received £8.1 million at a 10% rate and £12.15 million at a 15% rate.
