The Sun reported that Walker stated on the show that for England to go far in the FIFA World Cup, Bellingham, Kane, and Saka all need to be in form.

Walker said on the "Proper Football Daily" show that Bellingham appears to be in great form, and Kane is doing what he always does. Walker said that Bellingham was probably the best player on the field against Panama, especially in the second half when he constantly drove the team forward, while Kane scored a "typical Kane goal."
Walker stated that these players must, of course, perform well, but others also need to step up. He believes Saka will gradually come into form now. Walker said that Saka only got his first significant starting time against Panama and needs to regain his match rhythm. Walker said that Saka is an excellent player, and despite injuries in past seasons, his performances have been very impressive. As one of the more senior members of the team, Saka must also take charge of the game, like Bellingham and Kane.
However, Walker also mentioned that he doesn't quite understand Saka's positioning on the field. He noted that Saka was almost playing as a wing-back. Walker believes that the wingers on both flanks, especially Rashford on the left, are dropping back too deep. He said that he watched England's recent two matches against Ghana and Panama, and the wingers were taking on too many defensive duties. Walker recalled that when he played for England, as long as there was a winger in front of him, he would always tell them: "Leave the defending to me, you focus on attacking." He values defending highly and hopes that wingers always maintain ample energy when they have the ball so they can challenge opponents. This also requires more communication between full-backs and wingers.
Walker also discussed the frequent rotation at the right-back position. He said that England has rotated Reece James, Spence, and Jarell Quansah in this position, and Tuchel also called up Trevor Chalobah, who is not a natural right-back. Quansah was also forced to rotate into this position. Walker believes that Quansah prefers to play as a center-back, and Tuchel probably saw that Quansah could better help the team's overall operation, so he did not call up Trent Alexander-Arnold. Walker said that the head coach is paid to make these decisions and must make the right ones, hoping this will be an excellent choice. There has been a lot of discussion about this position, and Trent's name is often mentioned. Walker believes that Trent's absence from this FIFA World Cup is very unlucky.
As the FIFA World Cup enters the knockout stage, many strong teams are still vying for the world title. England coach Tuchel hopes to end the team's 60-year wait and bring home the trophy. However, strong teams like France, Spain, Brazil, and Germany are all genuine contenders for the title. Messi and Ronaldo also show no signs of slowing down, and this could be their last FIFA World Cup.
Walker stated that he has participated in many major tournaments and competitions, and anyone who can play for Real Madrid certainly has exceptional qualities, but Tuchel is building the team in a way he believes is best suited for this England team. He said that this team is suited for counter-attacks, with pace up front and sufficient midfield impact. When mentioning Palmer and Foden, Walker couldn't help but wonder why they weren't selected. Walker believes that Tuchel is focusing the team on wide speed and getting the ball forward as quickly as possible, a strategy that might benefit England when facing strong teams like Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and Argentina, as England is unlikely to have much possession in those matches.
Walker emphasized that England must quickly learn to function as a team, because losing means going home. He said that the team cannot rely solely on individual players; everyone must contribute, and against stronger opponents, everyone needs to improve by five to ten percent. England started well against Croatia but faltered after drawing with Ghana. The match against Panama was not perfect, but the team regained its form and ultimately topped the group, which was the main objective. Walker stated that the knockout stage is when true winners are decided; a team cannot win the championship in the group stage, but they can be eliminated in it. He said that wearing this jersey means playing with pride, and the crest on the chest is key; they must play with all their might. But from now on, England must play their best football, because every match from here on will be difficult.
