Atletico Madrid has officially unveiled their 2026/27 home kit, featuring the classic red and white stripes. The promotional campaign showcases four players—Llorente, Pubill, Giuliano Simeone, and Baena—all considered key to the club's plans for the upcoming season. However, the notable absence is striker Alvarez, whose omission has sparked transfer rumors.

Mundo Deportivo notes that following Alvarez's recent statement—"a transfer is the best outcome for everyone; I want to achieve my dream"—speculation about his future has intensified. Many Atletico fans believe the Argentine striker should depart this summer, making the club's decision to exclude him from the kit promotion seem deliberate.

Alvarez has expressed interest in joining Barcelona, but negotiations remain stalled. With his contract running until 2030 and Atletico unwilling to sell, while Barcelona refuses to meet his release clause, a deal appears unlikely. Atletico has made clear it will not sell Alvarez to any La Liga rival, ruling out Real Madrid. If he departs, overseas clubs such as Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain are more realistic destinations.

However, Mundo Deportivo cautions against reading too much into promotional photos. More than a dozen other players expected to remain—including Hincapié, Barrios, and Lookman—also did not appear, so absence doesn't necessarily signal an imminent departure.

Notably, Atletico incorporated a tribute to Alvarez in their new kit design. The warm-up gear features a spiderweb pattern honoring the club's 2004/05 training kit, though many fans view it as an allusion to Alvarez's nickname, "The Spider" (La Araña).

The 2026/27 kit is now officially on sale. Interestingly, the first public showcase at Cívitas Metropolitano wasn't by an Atletico player but during a BTS concert featuring member SUGA, generating significant attention for the club's marketing strategy.

Whether Alvarez will wear this kit in competitive matches remains uncertain as the summer transfer window unfolds.
