According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Édouard Mendy will rejoin the Senegal squad before the Round of 16 match against Belgium, with hopes of playing if the team progresses.

Mendy underwent a 30-hour round trip to Jeddah for a knee injury assessment at Al-Ahli's request and will return to the squad before Wednesday's Round of 16 match against Belgium.

The Al-Ahli medical team assessed the player's injury, and Mendy willingly traveled to Saudi Arabia for the examination. He requested to leave immediately afterward to rejoin the team in time for Wednesday's fixture. Mendy remains hopeful that if Senegal advances, he will be fit enough to play. The Senegalese Football Federation will evaluate his condition upon his return.
