According to British media reports, FIFA President Infantino took 27 flights during the FIFA World Cup group stage, traveling over 50,000 kilometers in total, with carbon emissions equivalent to the annual total of 78 people.

A British media investigation revealed that Infantino used a private jet for all 27 segments after the start of the tournament, averaging two flights a day, and sometimes three flights on certain days. The busiest day was June 15: he flew from Miami to Seattle to watch Belgium play Egypt, then traveled to Los Angeles to watch Iran play New Zealand, covering approximately 4,000 kilometers in 24 hours.
His itinerary also included a particularly short flight of only 148 kilometers, from Philadelphia to New Jersey on June 22. This flight was not for a match, but for a TV interview scheduled for the following morning. Later that day, he flew to Boston and then to Toronto. Throughout the group stage, the private jet flew for nearly 66 hours in total, emitting 516 tons of carbon dioxide. According to British media calculations, this is equivalent to the annual emissions of 78 people.
In response to questions from British media, FIFA defended the President's itinerary, stating: "Infantino wishes to visit as many member associations as possible." FIFA added that these trips sometimes involve scheduled flights, including low-cost airlines, and sometimes private charters, with the most effective and cost-efficient option chosen based on circumstances. However, these explanations failed to convince environmentalists. Freddy Daly of the environmental organization "Cool Down" network stated that the frequent use of private jets "exposes FIFA's shortcomings in environmental sustainability." A researcher at the University of Sussex also bluntly stated that Infantino's choices "are completely inconsistent with external expectations for FIFA's leadership on environmental issues."
