According to Tuttosport, Real Madrid have renewed their interest in Internazionale defender Bastoni, with Jose Mourinho keen to strengthen the center-back position.

Following a disappointing season, Real Madrid appointed Jose Mourinho to lead the club's rebuilding project. The Portuguese coach has already welcomed new signings including Cucurella, Konaté, and Bernardo Silva, with Denzel Dumfries's arrival imminent. However, Mourinho's recruitment drive continues—he still requires a midfielder and a center-back. While Enzo Fernández remains a midfield target despite acquisition difficulties, Real Madrid's focus for defensive reinforcement has settled on Internazionale's Italian international Alessandro Bastoni.

According to The Athletic, Real Madrid evaluated multiple center-back candidates before alternatives fell through successively: Manchester City refused to sell Rúben Dias, with new coach Maresca deeming him untouchable; Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck suffered a serious left ankle injury sidelining him long-term. Consequently, Bastoni emerged as Real Madrid's primary center-back target.

Bastoni's season has been turbulent—a diving incident against Juventus attracted significant criticism, and he received a red card in Italy's crucial World Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina. These controversies fueled speculation about a potential Serie A exit. Barcelona previously expressed strong interest but withdrew, as Xavi's tactical system didn't require his profile. Now, a La Liga move appears possible, potentially to Real Madrid.

However, Inter maintain a resolute stance. Bastoni's agent Tullio Tinti declared outside Inter's headquarters three weeks ago: "Alessandro is a pure Nerazzurri player with two years remaining on his contract and is very happy at Inter. The contract must be respected—there is no transfer question." Inter president Giuseppe Marotta echoes this position. Nevertheless, Tuttosport questions whether Inter can resist if Real Madrid submit a substantial offer. Mourinho's pursuit could reshape Bastoni's future.
