After the Netherlands was eliminated in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup, Nigel de Jong, technical director of the Dutch Football Association, spoke about the Dutch team's exit in an interview with NOS.

On the Netherlands' elimination

"Disappointment. That's the only word I can find right now. We are all very emotional after this loss to Morocco. We need to process it properly. We will head back to the hotel shortly to gather ourselves. Although it sounds harsh, we need to come to terms with this loss and move forward."

"Our goal was to reach the semi-finals, and of course, we aspired to become world champions. Unfortunately, we failed to achieve that."

"This is the result, and we must be honest about it. We did not achieve the goals and ambitions we had set. That's simply the reality."

On Koeman's future

"I believe we had very clear agreements in place before the match, particularly regarding the position of national team coach. We will conduct a joint evaluation after the match. Now that it is over, the evaluation phase has officially begun."

"At the moment, I don't want to discuss specifics. What matters most to me right now is that we first properly process this disappointment. When you walk into the locker room and see the staff and players, emotions are running high. We are disappointed to be eliminated from the FIFA World Cup so early. We had expected better performance."
