On June 30, in the WTT U.S. Grand Slam men's singles round of 32, French table tennis star A. Lebrun defeated Anton Kallberg 3-0 (11-4, 11-9, 13-11). After the match, he said: It's a pleasure to watch the French team play; I really like Cherki.

A. Lebrun on the World Cup: I'll watch it whenever I have time. Right now I'm competing myself, so my focus will be on the matches, but I'll definitely continue to follow them afterwards. As it stands, their offense is playing exceptionally well, and watching them play is a joy. I also wish them good results.

(Question: France has Mbappe, Dembele in football, Wembanyama in basketball, and a new generation of players like you in table tennis. What are the common qualities among this young generation of French athletes?)

A. Lebrun: Athletes? I can't really say, but I think young French athletes are all very relaxed, enjoying the sport itself, while also trying their best to be excellent. I want to maintain this mindset. They really inspire me a lot. I know I'm not at their level yet, so I will keep learning from them and become stronger little by little.

(Question: Who is your favorite athlete? What would you like to say to him?)

A. Lebrun: There are so many excellent French athletes, it's hard to choose, but I really like Cherki. Whenever he steps onto the field, I watch very intently. I also wish him outstanding results in this competition.
