After defeating Ivory Coast to advance, Norway midfielder Patrick Berg spoke about Norway's historic breakthrough in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ivory Coast largely succeeded in limiting the influence of Norway's key player, Haaland, during the match. However, as defenders across Europe and the world have long experienced, the 25-year-old striker only needs one touch to change the game.

Midfielder Patrick Berg stated, "That's just how he is. He can wait for an opportunity all game, but when it comes, he's always in the right place. He's a top striker in the world, and we are very happy to have him."

The match was very difficult. Ivory Coast showed strong fighting spirit, and after Antonio Nusa scored a brilliant goal, Amad Diallo equalized for them in the 74th minute. Emerging victorious from such an intense contest makes Norway's win even more valuable.

Patrick Berg said of Haaland's winning goal: "I felt all sorts of emotions at that moment, it was truly complex. I was so happy to see him score for the team again, and I think our qualification in the end was well-deserved."

"Ivory Coast is a very good team; they made things very difficult for us throughout the match and have many top players who deserve respect today. But we have been working hard for this moment for many years; it's been a wonderful journey, and now we move forward."
