According to Ole, Atletico Madrid has prepared a Plan B for Alvarez's potential departure – if "Alvarez" ultimately transfers, the Rojiblancos will go all out to pursue Marseille forward Greenwood.

After the World Cup, Julian publicly stated his desire to leave this summer. Although Atletico Madrid president Cerezo responded firmly with "not for sale," Barcelona president Laporta has confirmed an offer has been made, stating "the offer will remain valid." Atletico Madrid's stance is clear: no one leaves until a replacement is found.
And that replacement is Greenwood. According to L'Equipe, Atletico Madrid's sporting director Alemany began inquiring about the player's transfer conditions as early as mid-May. Simeone has approved the pursuit and prefers to use him as a finisher rather than a right-winger. Greenwood scored 25 goals in 44 appearances for Marseille last season, and Manchester United still retains a 40% stake in him.
However, Greenwood is only Plan B – only if Alvarez leaves will Atletico Madrid pay Marseille's asking price of 50 million euros. Fenerbahce and Roma are also eyeing the English forward.
A tug-of-war over "Alvarez"'s transfer has just begun.
