The British Parliament recently published an early day motion in which MP Layla Moran proposed that England captain Kane be awarded a knighthood.

The motion, numbered 508, was submitted on July 2, 2026, for the 2026-27 session and currently has one signatory, with no amendments received. The text of the motion reads: This House highly commends Kane's efforts in Wednesday evening's FIFA World Cup match against DR Congo; congratulates the England team on their performance in the FIFA World Cup so far; and wishes them all the best in their next match against Mexico on Monday. Furthermore, the motion specifically notes that Kane's total FIFA World Cup goals have surpassed Pelé's; and believes that, given the aforementioned achievements and Kane's two brilliant goals in Wednesday evening's match, which kept England's hopes of winning the FIFA World Cup alive, he should be awarded a knighthood.
